Match Recap

The match at OBA was marked by caution and the weight of the final stretch of Série B. Aware of the value of each possession, the two teams engaged in a highly disputed duel, in which the Goianian efficiency made all the difference for the construction of the 1-0 victory. Vila Nova knew how to manage the result until the final whistle, containing the Criciúma's attacks, which tried to seek the draw but could not change the score in the capital of Goiás.

Match Highlights

Without major structural oscillations throughout the ninety minutes, the home team stood out for its organization to neutralize the visitors' main offensive pieces. Vila Nova's defensive line maintained a firm position in the moments of greatest pressure, preventing any Catarinense reaction. On the Criciúma side, there was a lack of precision in the final third of the field to break through the block mounted by the hosts and avoid the away defeat.

What the Numbers Say

The triumph was fundamental to transform the panorama of the table in this penultimate round. Vila Nova, which came from a record of one win, three draws, and one defeat in the previous five matches, rose to 63 points, guaranteeing third place in the championship. Meanwhile, Criciúma, which came from three wins and two defeats in the past matches, remained with 62 points in fourth place, seeing the dangerous approach of direct competitors in the dispute for the last promotion spots.
